Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is the treatment of injury, pain or dysfunction by use of physical means. Physiotherapy can be used to treat a wide variety of musculo-skeletal conditions. However, you do not need to be a sports person to benefit from physiotherapy (although Physios certainly treat sports people for varying injuries). You can benefit from physiotherapy no matter what the cause of your pain or injury is!
No matter how your pain has come about, you deserve effective and quality treatment at the earliest opportunity.
Initial Physio Consultation
The initial visit for physiotherapy will involve approximately a 1 hour consultation where the history of your problem is taken, along with a musculoskeletal assessment and a treatment. The physiotherapist will then tell you what needs to be done to help to return you to everyday activities or sport. This may include further treatment(s) including simple day-to-day advice, manual therapy such as soft tissue techniques, ART ®, Acupuncture (AFCI), electrotherapy, and/or mobilization. Likely, it will also mean doing specific rehabilitation exercises. As well, we will discuss the alternatives available including appropriate referral to other health care providers if necessary and any risks relevant to your treatment.
Follow Up Appointments
Further treatments if required, will be discussed with you in regards to frequency and treatment plans.

My Approach
As a Physiotherapist, I will focus on a hands-on therapy approach aimed at treating the source of your musculoskeletal problems, not just your symptoms. Special attention will be focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal disorders, as well as, the effects these disorders have on your well being.
“My aim as a Physiotherapist is to assist you in your own healing, by providing you with the tools for self-management. I will place emphasis on active rehabilitation utilizing specific exercises and manual therapy techniques as an adjunct to facilitate your recovery and functional well being…”
What is Active Release Technique® (ART®)?
Active Release Technique® is a patented,
state of the art soft-tissue system/
movement based technique that uses
hands-on evaluation and treatment of the
muscles, ligaments, tendons, fascia and nerves. Using over 700 specific techniques, an ART® clinician is able to evaluate the tightness, texture and overall movement of the muscles and tissues to effectively treat the root cause. Many common ailments can be attributed to weak or tight soft tissue or overused muscles.
What are the Graston ® or SASTM ® Techniques?
Graston Technique® and SASTM ® techniques are non-invasive instrument-assisted techniques used to mobilize soft tissue and dissolve scar tissue. The techniques are an innovative approach to treating both chronic and acute soft tissue injuries. The design of the tools allow for specific and increased tissue penetration, creating more effective treatments and reducing recovery time.
Is ART ® Painful?
Generally ART® is not painful. However, comfort levels vary with each individual. At times ART® can be described as mildly uncomfortable, but the therapeutic benefits easily outweigh any tenderness felt during a treatment.
